What is SLUG?
Sustainable Lawrence University Gardens is a student-run, non-profit project of the Lawrence University.
The gardens consist of a five hive honeybee apiary, perennial fruit tree orchard, and 1/4 acre annual garden with a 90-foot hoop house.
Mission
SLUG grows healthy food for the LU community using environmentally benign and sustainable agricultural methods. SLUG uses a student-run project-based approach. SLUG actively educates its members, the Lawrence community, and the Greater Fox Cities community about healthy food and sustainable agriculture in order to create a more sustainable food system and a more sustainable and environmentally responsible community.
